Adjustment of the legalization procedure for translations as of July 3, 2017

The procedure for legalizing translated documents is being adjusted as of July 3, 2017. From this date, all translations will need to be endorsed by a notary or the Danish Chamber of Commerce before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can apostille the translation.

The adjustment is made pursuant to the repeal of the Act on Authorized Translators and Interpreters as of January 1, 2016, which abolished the authorization system for interpreters and translators in order to facilitate market access and remove unnecessary barriers.

Inquiries regarding the future legalization procedure can be made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at [email protected]. Inquiries about the repeal of the Act on Authorized Translators and Interpreters can be made to the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs at [email protected].
