Authorized translation
Quality assurance and delivery
How much does an authorized translation cost?

Authorized translations for companies and individuals
Diction performs authorized translations for companies and individuals. An authorized translation may be required in connection with, for example, powers of attorney, contracts, marriage certificates, diplomas or other documents that are to be used in an official context in a country other than the one in which they were issued.
What is an authorized translator?
An authorized translator in Sweden, or translator, has been approved in an authorization examination with very high requirements. These exams are organized by the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency. The exam tests both subject knowledge and language standard. Regulation (1985:613) on the authorization of interpreters and translators specifies the requirements that those seeking authorization must meet and also what is required of an already authorized translator. Just like our other translators, all authorized translators have a duty of confidentiality, which means that all material is treated confidentially.
Description of the process
- You upload your document via our website.
- We offer you a free quote.
- We perform the authorized translation
- Then the physical, stamped version is sent to your address.
- Your document is ready to use and an apostille stamp can be issued if required.
Quality assurance and delivery
Diction receives your documents either by mail or email. You choose what suits you best. However, we send authorized translations back to you by mail as they contain the translator's stamp and signature. Before we send you the final document, we send you a digital draft of the translation for you to review before the translator stamps the document and we send it to you. This way, we ensure that no errors or misunderstandings occur that could delay the process.
Legalization
In some cases, it may be necessary to have an authorized translation further legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This means that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs certifies that the signature and seal/stamp are genuine. Legalization is often necessary when a document is to be used with a foreign authority. Legalization also often needs to be certified by the embassy of the country concerned in Sweden.
We recommend that you always check with the embassy or public authority of the country concerned for information on any legalization requirements. More information about legalizations can be found here.
Apostille
For documents to be presented in a country covered by the Hague Convention, it is sufficient for the authorized translation to be provided with an apostille. When a document has been affixed with an apostille, no further form of legalization is required for the document to be valid. The apostille is issued by the Notary Public on original documents.
Price - How much does an authorized translation cost?
The price for an authorized translation varies somewhat. The price depends on how many pages you need to translate, which language you are translating to and from, and how quickly you need the translation. Therefore, we need to see your text before we can give you a price proposal. We provide a free quote for everyone, so we recommend that you send us a scan of your text to get a price and delivery time.
